Time on my hands....so enjoy what is around you.
I have never had any luck with violets or Christmas cactus. Leave it to Mom. This window is the perfect place for anything Mom puts here. Is it the window or is it Mom? I believe there is a little of Pearl here too. My grandmother was the same way with her green thumb. The things that I never thought would grow, she could nurture to incredible beauty. Enjoy.

Gone is the snow...and the Jaguar!
Felt the need to update the post. Spring has finally arrived at Russell Street. So far, 2010 has presented many challenges, opportunities, and things never dealt with in my 52 years. As I mentioned the snow is gone and the pollen (worst on record since the recording began) has moved in the entire country. The Jaguar is gone as on a business trip 10 days after that last posting, was totaled when a tree came from no where heading to Richmond. Thank goodness, I am very lucky and blessed as no injury (but my feelings about that car) but the car was totalled. As it is now April 8th, I am still in a heated battle with Nationwide Insurance. Our agent has been amazing for a 50 year relationship with cars and homes between both my parents and me. All of this means nothing though with the people outside of the agency and we will be changing after dealing with the claims people. They are NOT on your side and really don't care about their customers. In the middle of all of this, I am just out of Pinehurst hospital from being admitted Easter Sunday for pneumonia. Needless to say, all of the Easter pictures were not happening with the way I was feeling. All good now and home and quarantined in Russell Street till the pollen is somewhat reduced.

The Big Snow, or Ice, or Sleet, or all of it!

For all of those that just love the snow, love to play in it and love to see it, you must me happy. I have to say I have never been a fan. It typically is a big interruption in
my opinion. When you have things that need to get done, places you have to be, goals you have to meet, snow and ice are not our friends. Enjoy the pictures anyway.

First Christmas Party 2009
This past Sunday was a great day at Haywood House. The house was all a buzz with stirring, mixing, decorating and food, friends and family. Thanks Mom and Dad, Mary, Feliet, Ben and all of the special friends that took time from busy schedules to stop in for a little holiday hospitality. The hit was the sausage dip and the White Christmas Punch.
A special thanks goes out to G. Capel for the most special and appropriate gift. It was an old photograph of the Haywood House from the fifties as well as an original artwork piece that was painted by Louise Haywood. She spoke fondly of where the painting used to hang and wanted it back in the house. Ms. Haywood loved children (very fitting for my parents as they do also) and this is a painting of a little girl drawing with chalk on the sidewalk. It will be returned to the walls of Haywood House in its original state. Hope everyone has a great holiday. Thanks also to the Capel Store gang for my gift of the edible birdhouse. It will provide many special days of enjoyment to the birds in the neighborhood..JPG)
